<image:caption>Growing up in pre-global India, “Unity in Diversity” was reinforced in my school and also in popular culture and PSAs such as “Ek Anek Aur Ekta” (1974) and “Desh Raag” (1989). Despite the splintering of that vision ingrained in our constitution during the hate crimes committed against Sikhs in 1984 and Muslims in 1992 after the demolition of Babri Masjid to the recent inauguration of a Ram Temple at that very spot, this poster is an attempt to affirm the tenet that we are stronger and richer culturally and developmentally when we honor diverse voices and support each other.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This poster, titled 'Anekta Mein Ekta' (Unity in Diversity), comments on India's current political and social situation by highlighting how one political party's dominance in both central and state governments limits opportunities for others, fostering homogeneity and eroding the nation's vibrant diversity. Its art style is a deliberate reinterpretation of the detailed miniature paintings from the Mughal era, serving as an homage to India's rich Islamic heritage.</image:caption>

<image:caption>"Annadaatha (provider of food), draws inspiration from the Kannada poem “Neeghila Yogi,” by Kuvempu. He honors farmers as yogis and portrays their unwavering commitment to feed and nourish the global population as their form of worship. Food sustains and nourishes us. However, the laborers who produce our food often remain invisible. While we enjoy the concept of farm-to-table dining and the consumption of fresh, well-prepared food, we frequently overlook the farmers who make it possible. India, a predominantly agrarian country, has seen its agricultural communities overshadowed by the rapid growth of its technological economy. This poster is a call for action to support the hands that feed us, seed by seed. It urges solidarity with farmers, recognizing their essential role and the challenges they face in the pursuit of hope, dignity of labor, empathy, and peace. "</image:caption>

<image:caption>This poster celebrates the idea of "Peace Now Maze (Fun in Hindi) Forever" with a playful, embracing feminine hand emphasizing on "Being Fantastic". The typography, entirely handcrafted on an iPad, features vibrant colors reminiscent of India in the early 2000s, including matchbox and local art hues. The poster aims to spread a message of peace and solidarity with a joyful, uplifting tone, as I genuinely feel that whenever we talk about "Peace and Solidarity" there's some kind of sadness and instead focusing on the fun and enjoyment of the moment. This approach encourages viewers to embrace positivity and joy in their pursuit of peace.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When I started thinking about peace in context of India, I was filled with more questions than answers. I realized that peace is momentary comes in small moments hopefully and not as a big large blanket. Especially when there is so much at stake in that country. Three years ago when I visited India I noticed that uncountable saffron flags were waving on top of more roofs than I have ever seen. That image stuck with me as a symbol of how we are signaling danger to people. When we hinge our identities under the banner of nationalism, religion, and fear, it's a lost cause. There is a phrase by artist Demian DinéYazhi that I love, "every American flag is a warning sign." The question posed in the poster is inspired by that. Hope we can find peace every day in this beautiful yet horrific world</image:caption>

<image:caption>While peace is a worthy goal to strive for, my poster focuses on the convoluted puzzle it represents. Achieving peace remains complicated, difficult and often elusive. With a children's shape-sorter as metaphor, peace is represented as a jumbled muddle with an obscured solution. In using a children's toy, I suggest that this puzzle will be left for future generations: they must sort through the rubble. My poster combines 3-d printing, typographic design, laser-cutting and photography in an increasingly Rube-Goldberg-esque exercise in futility.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The visual is based on the experience of the body getting hollow and empty during meditation, depicted through the empty shape of the human body. The process of meditation follows inhalation based on the sound "So" and exhalation based on the sound "Hum". The entire space filled with text of these two sounds of "So" and "Hum" depicts the numerous cycles of inhalation and exhalation during meditation. The text also shows seven colours associated with seven chakras (energy centres) in the human body, which are aligned to the specific locations of these chakras. Deep inhalation fills the entire body with oxygen and hence the word "So" in extra bold weight and exhalation moves us towards an empty sensation with the word "Hum" in extra thin weight which depicts the "emptied out" sensation.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This poster references the satirical political analogy, (you have two cows, you live in a … country) that parodies different systems of government. On close examination. the patterns on the two cows can be seen to illustrate the maps of India and Pakistan. The contentedly grazing cows seem to say that despite differences, people can coexist and share resources in a peaceful manner. The poster encourages viewers to extend the example of these two historically antagonistic nations, and to apply the metaphor to situations and circumstances that are relevant to their own lives.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Displaying emotional vulnerability is a common struggle among South Asian families. A significant way this manifests is the cycle of abuse within our patriarchal family structures. While "daddy issues" is a notoriously universal problem, the combination of generational trauma and toxic emasculation worsens these issues amongst South Asians. Fathers and sons are generally not allowed to open up, and these pent up emotions negatively impact the entire family. My submission for Posters for Peace shows the warmth and beauty that fatherhood can bring under a society that embraces and normalizes mental health issues across all genders and family roles.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In a digitally governed world, it's challenging to pinpoint a single "most important" code, as the significance of a code can vary depending on context, industry, and individual perspectives. However, some fundamental codes play crucial roles in shaping our digital landscape, such as binary code, encryption algorithms, source code, HTML, CSS, internet protocol (IP) addresses, domain name systems (DNS), Unicode, version control systems, etc. While these are some important codes in a digitally governed world, the binary code for PEACE may not be universally recognized as the most significant. Let's work together to promote peace through digital communication.</image:caption>

<image:caption>"The dynamics between Hindus and Muslims in India have been complex and varied since independence. Historical factors, such as the partition in 1947, have left lasting impacts on inter-community relations. While many Hindus and Muslims coexist peacefully and share common cultural practices, there have been instances of tension and conflict. The poster seeks to illustrate Hindu dominance over Muslims, emphasizing the support provided by current government policies. This dominance is visually represented by the prevalence of saffron color across the poster. The concept involves incorporating a peace symbol with the Indian Ashoka Chakra, with additional white space representing peace."</image:caption>

<image:caption>The poster presents the dichotomy of our hopes and our realities. The concept of ‘peace’ is universal—embodied by all cultures—yet conflicts persist. The word ‘peace’ is represented in 313 languages out of the total 7,168 living languages in the world. Words for ‘peace’ from Indian languages have been highlighted in red. Interestingly, when comparing them with one another, one discovers that while the script between Indian languages changes considerably, the phonetic rendition remains remarkably consistent. Arranging the languages alphabetically allows people to find their own ‘peace’...</image:caption>

<image:caption>Indian Prime Ministers have played a significant role in Palestine's journey to freedom. Palestine is part of the Asian history and struggle. Once a strong advocate for Palestine, India's ties have weakened in recent years. India's relationship with Arafat and the Palestinians is synonymous with her desire to be a secular and democratic state, which is endangered by Bharat's willingness to be a Hindu nation, the vision that was challenged in the Indian 2024 elections. This poster is an ode to the diminishing solidarity for Palestine, and its people, in India—where the diaspora is rediscovering its solidarity, echoing the sentiments of the nation's founders. The question now looms: Are we, as Indians, betraying our legacy by drifting toward neutrality?</image:caption>

<image:caption>"In the mosaic of human existence, peace emerges as a conscious creation, not a mere absence of conflict. My poster juxtaposes an elder's weathered visage with typography, bridging millennia of wisdom. ""SAMADHANAM,"" fusing Tamil and Malayalam, echoes the harmony possible when disparate elements unite. ""Peace, in spite of, not because of"" challenges perceptions, suggesting true peace is forged in the crucible of difference. This visual meditation invites contemplation on harmony amidst diversity. It posits peace as understanding, not uniformity. Through multilayered imagery, we're asked: Can unity exist without sameness? Can embracing the ""other"" lead to profound peace? The design embodies this philosophy, weaving cultural threads into a tapestry of hope."</image:caption>

It endeavors to craft narratives that challenge existing perceptions and myths, fostering a sense of belonging. Touching on topics like immigration, racial/ethnic/cultural identities, displacement, and integration, the poster aspires to unite diverse perspectives toward the common aspiration of global humanity. Advocating cross-cultural comprehension, it aims to cultivates peace. This poster connects us to the past, confront us with our present, and summon us to face our future."</image:caption>

<image:caption>My poster draws inspiration from a powerful message from Walt Whitman’s “The Sleepers” in “Leaves of Grass.” Whitman champions peace and unity among people, regardless of time or culture. He sees beauty in peace and links inner peace to harmony among humanity. Embracing diverse cultures, he envisions peaceful coexistence, mirroring nature’s harmony. Whitman’s message resonates deeply in today’s divided world, plagued by racial, religious, and resource conflicts. I aim to spread this simple yet profound reminder of peace and humanity.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The visual is self-explanatory to all. Here, I have illustrated a mother-goddess of peace and justice standing in a world of chaos, protecting and nurturing an inclusive and loving environment for every kind of specie in the world. “What world do we want to leave to our children and youth? Our selfishness, our indifference, and our lifestyles are threatening the future of our children. I then renew my appeal: let’s take care of our Mother Earth. Let us overcome the temptation of the selfishness that makes us predators of resources. Let’s inaugurate a way of life for a society that is eventually sustainable. We have the opportunity to create and nurture a better world for all where there is justice, equality, unity and peace..”</image:caption>
